Commercial Night Club Bar Double Side Fabric Sofa Booth
Two single booths need about 1400 mm of floor between them; one double-sided unit needs 1100 mm for the same two seats, and the saving is the gap nobody could sit in anyway.

The gap between two runs is the cost of not joining them
Set two single booths back to back and the floor between them runs to about 1400 mm once both backs, both plinths and the walkway nobody uses are counted. The double-sided unit puts the same two seats into 1100 mm, because the two backs share one structure instead of standing apart with a dead strip between them.
Three hundred millimetres does not sound like much until it is multiplied across a room. On a wall with four of these it is a whole table back in the plan.
The shared back has to be one structure
Two separate backs pressed together rattle, because each is only braced on one side. This unit builds the back as a single frame with padding on both faces, so it is braced against itself and the person leaning on one side is leaning against the same structure the person on the other side is leaning on.
That also means the unit can be freestanding in the middle of a floor, which is where most of them go: a double-sided booth in the open lets a room get booth seating without a wall to put it against.
Brass, and what it does to a black seat
The frame is the part that shows at floor level, and a brass finish lifts a black seat that would otherwise disappear in a dark room. It also shows wear: brass-finish powder coat marks where a chair leg strikes it, and unlike anodised metal it cannot be polished back to the original finish.
Where the unit sits on a route, the frame is specified in black instead. Brass reads better and black survives longer, and which one is right depends on whether the booth is against a wall or in the middle of the floor.
