About Tanner & Bell — Foshan factory for bars and pubs only
Our workshop sits in Foshan, Guangdong, China, and builds bar furniture only. Design and production work out of the same building — drawings are not thrown over a wall to a factory, and whoever drew them can walk over and change the sample on the bench.

What we have done and what we have not
Our factory is located in Foshan and specialises in bar stools, counter stools, bar chairs, bar and poseur tables, and booth seats. This is the entire list. We do not build for other types of venue, and we refuse to take any work outside it.
The reason is not purity for its own sake. Get the seat height wrong for a bar and it does not look wrong in a photograph — it looks wrong at eleven at night, when a guest has been sitting with their knees against the counter for two hours. Building the same five product types over and over is how that knowledge stays in-house.

Why a single-site workshop matters for a fit-out
When timber, metal and upholstery sit on the same floor, a change to one does not need a purchase order to a third party. Seat height that moves 20 mm after the sample is a machining change, not a new supplier conversation. That is the practical difference between a workshop and a trading company, and it is the reason a fit-out can be re-drawn three weeks before production without the quotation collapsing.
How we work with designers and contractors
Most of our work comes through interior designers, fit-out contractors and operators opening a second or third site. The pattern is consistent: drawings in, a sample out, approval, production, container. What we add is the part a drawing cannot show — that a 400 mm seat pan is too small for a counter where people eat, or that a full back will close the sight line from behind the bar.
We say those things before the order, not after. It has cost us orders, and it is why the ones we do take ship once.
What you can check before you order
None of the above can be verified from a web page, so here are three things that can. All three are open to any trade buyer, before an order and after it.
- Video walk round the workshop. Monday to Saturday, 09:00–18:00 China time. Tell us the model and the call is booked for a point where that model is on the bench, not in a showroom.
- Inspection by an agency you nominate. Pre-shipment inspection is welcome; you choose the agency and we hold the loading slot for it. The inspection takes about two days and finishes before the container is closed.
- Physical sample in 15 days. Built in your fabric and your finish, no sampling fee, one revision included. It ships from Foshan and you keep it.
If a supplier will not do any of these three, the numbers on their page are not worth reading. That is a fair test to apply to us as well.
Where we are
Foshan, Guangdong, China. Visits to the workshop are welcome and are usually arranged around a sample being ready, so there is something specific to look at rather than a showroom of pieces that are not in production. Ports of loading are Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
