Solid wood chair, velvet back, 760 mm
570 mm of depth and a velvet back is a chair built for staying in, and it will not suit a floor that turns tables four times a night.

The depth decision
Depth is what separates a lounge chair from a dining chair, and 570 mm is firmly on the lounge side. Guests can sit back, cross a leg, and stay there; the same chair in a fast-turn room wastes floor space and blocks the gap behind it.
Velvet on the back makes the same point in a different material. It catches light along the pile and holds a deep colour, which is why it reads as an interior decision rather than a seating one.
Velvet that holds its pile
Pile crushes where weight sits and where hands rest. On a back panel the contact is spread across shoulders and is lighter than on a seat, so velvet on the back lasts far longer than velvet on a seat in the same room.
Brushing the pile back the same way after cleaning keeps the colour even. Where the room is heavy on red wine, the same chair is available with a sealed cover and the silhouette is unchanged.
