Built for rooms that get rearranged
Function rooms, upstairs bars and any space that changes layout between events put chairs through more than a fixed floor does. Chairs get carried, stacked against a wall, and set out again in a different pattern, and the frame takes all of that load at the joints.
Welded steel has no joint to work loose in the first place. The leather cover is stitched to a padded shell that is bolted to the frame from behind, so a scuffed seat is a swap rather than a rebuild.
550 mm depth and what it costs
At 550 mm deep this is a generous chair, and generous depth costs seats: the same run fits fewer of them. It buys a chair a guest can sit back in for an hour, which is the right trade in a room where people are not turning tables.
Where seats matter more than comfort, the 470 mm width still packs against a banquette while the depth gives the back somewhere to go.
