Timber stool with wrap-around low back
Low wrap-around back is the shape that holds a guest without becoming a chair: the sides keep them centred, and the height keeps the counter sight line clear.

Why the sides matter more than the height
Most low backs support the lumbar and nothing else, so a guest who leans sideways ends up half off the seat. Carrying the back round the sides by 60 mm fixes that without adding a single millimetre to the silhouette above the counter.
It also adds stiffness to a thin back panel, which is the other reason the shape keeps appearing in new bars.
Solid timber and veneer together
The frame is solid, the wide back panel is veneered, and the join between them is where the build shows. Veneer on a curve has to be pressed, not wrapped flat, or the grain lifts at the ends within a year.
