Walnut high-back stool, H1050 mm

High back at bar height
Backs that reach the shoulder blades change who uses the stool: the guest who came for one drink stays, because there is something behind them. That is worth having on a bar with a low seat count and a high spend, and worth avoiding on a counter where the view has to stay open.
Structurally it is a different stool. The back becomes a lever on the rear legs, so the frame needs a stretcher and a wider splay at floor level than the same design at counter height.
Mid-century proportions
The profile is a thin back on a splayed leg, and the proportions only work if the back is actually thin: a padded back of the same outline reads as a different period entirely. That is why this frame carries a shaped timber back rather than an upholstered panel.
