Two heights from one drawing
Counters get decided late, and the stool order usually has to go out before the joinery is signed off. One model offered at both 650 and 750 mm removes that dependency: the frame, the back, the footrest and the finish are identical, and the only difference is how much tube sits under the seat.
The consequence is that a room can mix the two without it looking like a mistake, which is exactly what a venue with a low counter along one wall and a high bar top along the other actually needs.
What the footrest is doing
On a steel stool the footrest is not a comfort extra, it is part of the structure. Welded between the front legs, it closes the frame into a ring and stops the legs splaying under a sideways push — the direction guests actually load a stool when they turn to talk to the person beside them.
It also sets the seating posture. At 250 to 300 mm above the floor a guest can hook a foot and take their weight off the seat, which is the difference between perching for twenty minutes and staying for two hours. The weld on that bar gets more load than anything else on the stool, so it should be ground flush and painted over rather than left as a raw corner.
