Heavier section, because a club floor hits things
Steel tube at 25 mm dents when a keg trolley catches it and the dent is permanent, sitting there in the middle of the frame. The 40 mm section takes the same hit and marks the paint, which is repairable. The weight difference is a few kilos per chair and nobody moves a club chair far.
The joints are welded rather than bolted for the same reason. Bolted joints on a chair that gets dragged becomes the thing that needs attention every quarter, and attention on forty chairs is a day of labour.
Paint that can be repaired, not just replaced
Powder coat is more durable and cannot be touched up: a chip shows bare metal and needs the part stripped and recoated. Paint over a primed frame chips as well but takes a brush repair that nobody can see from a metre away. In a club, where the furniture is going to get hit and the room cannot come off the floor for a week, repairable wins.
Each order ships with a touch-up kit in the frame colour, which is the cheapest thing on the invoice and the one that extends service life most.
Metal tops and noise
Steel on steel is loud. The top here sits on a timber core with a steel skin, so a glass set down on it does not ring through the room, and the chairs carry nylon glides rather than steel feet.
