Rectangular table, 1100 × 600 × H750 mm
1100 by 600 is the rectangle that gets two people fed without either of them sitting in a walk line, which is why it is the most specified size in any room that serves food.

The rectangle that fits a room
1100 × 600 takes two place settings with a gap in the middle for plates that are not being eaten from, which is what a room serving food actually needs. Narrower and the plates fight; wider and the table takes a walk line it did not need to take.
Paired back to back, two of these make a four with a visible seam that reads as two tables rather than one, which guests prefer — a shared four is socially harder to join than two twos.
Legs, not a pedestal
At this size the four legs sit at the corners rather than under the sitters, so the floor under the table stays visible and bags go under without being kicked. It also makes the table cheap to move, which matters in a room that reconfigures for events.
The trade is the corner seat, which is why the length is capped at 1100 — longer, and the end positions become unusable.
Wood-look face
Warm timber tones without the maintenance of timber. The face is a finished board rather than veneer, so a spill does not lift an edge, and the colour runs through the piece rather than sitting on top of it.
