Mustard is the yellow that survives a dark room. Pale yellow goes cream under warm lamps; mustard goes deeper, and the deeper it goes the better it looks.

Mustard behaves differently at night
Pale yellows lose their saturation under 2700 K and read as cream. Mustard does the opposite: it deepens, and in a room with low pendants it takes on the colour of the light rather than fighting it.
That is why it appears in old pubs and not in showrooms. It needs a warm room to work, and in a cool one it reads as brown.
The frame returns at the open end
Where a booth pair stops in the middle of a room, the timber frame turns and goes to the floor at the open end. It closes the silhouette and it takes the contact from chairs being pulled past.
Without the return, the upholstery ends on a soft edge and the corner behind it is the first thing to wear through.
Warm on warm
Mustard over a warm stained timber is two warm materials meeting directly. It works here because there is a 45 mm timber reveal between the cover and the frame, which gives the eye a middle value to pass through.
Take that reveal out and the two colours merge into one orange mass at three metres.
