What actually damages a booth
Not guests. Chair backs, bag corners, and the corner of a trolley going past. All of it happens at the open end of a booth, at between 600 and 900 mm off the floor, which is exactly the height of an upholstered edge.
Forty-five millimetre timber posts at both open corners move that contact onto wood. The upholstery stops 10 mm short of the post, so the edge that would have frayed is behind a solid section instead.
Walnut without the price of walnut
Solid walnut at this section size would cost more than the upholstery. The frame here is walnut veneer on a ply core with solid walnut at the posts and the top rail, so the parts that get touched are solid and the parts that do not are not.
Grain is sequenced across the back panels so the veneer reads continuous. Where it is not, the piece looks like a kit.
Feet under the posts
Putting the adjustable feet under the posts rather than under the box means the load path goes straight down the timber. It also means the post never sits hard on the floor, which is what splits the base of a solid section over time.
On a floor out by more than 3 mm across the footprint, tell us and the feet are specified for the range.
