Retro Solid Wood Booth Seating
Black leather over dark timber is a piece with no contrast line in it at all, which is either the point or the problem depending on what is behind it.

No contrast line, on purpose
Most booths rely on the line where the cover meets the base to tell the eye where the seat ends. Take that away and the piece reads as a single mass, which is what a dark room with dark walls actually wants.
It only works if the two materials differ in texture. The leather is fine-grain pigment; the box is stained timber with open grain showing through. Side by side under a downlight the surfaces separate even though the colours do not.
Tufting across the full back
The buttoning runs from the seat line to the top rail on this piece, unlike the versions that stop short. On a 1050 mm back that gives five rows, which holds the proportion without the back looking quilted.
Twenty-three millimetres of tuft depth. Deep enough to read from three metres, shallow enough that the wells can be cleaned.
Dark walnut under black
Walnut tone rather than a neutral dark, because a neutral stain under black reads as grey dust at the base. Walnut has enough red in it to keep the box looking like timber.
Matt lacquer, four coats. Gloss on a base at this height shows every boot mark.
