Custom Retro Button Tufted Leather Banquette Booth Seating

Grey is the colour that survives a room with a wall of glass, because it neither bleaches like a pale cover nor goes hot like a dark one under direct sun.

Grey under glass

Direct sun bleaches a pale cover to a flat off-white and heats a dark one until it is uncomfortable to sit against. Mid-grey does neither, and a cool grey holds its tone better than a warm one under the blue cast that comes through modern glazing.

Every cover on this run carries UV stabiliser. Without it, a south-facing wall of glass will move a grey by two shades in a single summer.

Keeping the back under the sill

Where the glazing starts at 900 mm, the back at 980 mm puts 80 mm of upholstery in front of the glass. That reads as a deliberate line rather than as a back that happens to be blocking the view.

Get the relationship wrong and either the back covers the sill or it leaves a gap that shows the frame behind it. Send the sill height and the drawing sets the back.

Buttoned, along the glass

Tufting is what stops a ten-metre back from reading as a plain panel under flat daylight. Twenty-four millimetres of depth gives the diamonds a shadow line in the weakest light, and 125 mm spacing keeps the count from looking busy.

The seat is a continuous pad across the run, jointed only at the frame sections, so nobody sits on a seam.
