Teal buttoned booth run divided by timber screens in a bright room

Commercial Modern Booth Seating, Customized Style

Buttoning and dividers are two ways of breaking up the same run. Used together they need the divider to land on a button column, or the pattern reads as interrupted.

Dividers land on a column, not on a diamond

Once a back is buttoned, the run has a rhythm. Dropping a screen anywhere along it cuts a diamond in half and the eye sees a fault rather than a feature.

The divider centres are set from the button column spacing, so every screen falls on a seam. Where a run length does not divide evenly, the last bay absorbs the difference rather than the pattern.

Teal at this scale

Teal holds better than most greens under warm light. It sits between blue and green far enough that 2700 K moves it toward blue rather than toward olive, which is what happens to a sage or a lime.

Twentieth-century bar fit-outs used it for exactly that reason, and it is still the safest saturated colour for a room with poor daylight.

Tufting at 115 mm

Smaller diamonds than the 130 mm used on a plain wall run, because the dividers already break the run into bays. Finer tufting gives each bay its own pattern at close range.

Depth is held at 20 mm so the wells clean out. Any deeper and the bays become the place dust collects, which is visible the moment the downlights come on.
