The divider does more than a taller back
Pushing a back to 1200 mm to get privacy also encloses the guest, blocks the sightline across the room and costs more upholstery. Twenty-two millimetres of screen rising 300 mm above a 920 mm back does the same job at a third of the material, and leaves everything above 1220 mm open.
It also gives the room a vertical rhythm. Four dividers down a wall read as four bays, which is a plan decision made in joinery rather than in the layout drawing.
Fixing the divider is the detail that fails
Bolted to the outside of a back, a screen will lever against it every time somebody leans on the far end. The screen here is through-bolted to the frame at three points, with the bolts hidden behind the upholstery.
At the open end of the pair the screen continues to the floor and takes the load, so there is no need for a second wall fixing.
Sage against pale timber
This frame is stained to a light grey-brown rather than a warm one, because a warm stain under sage pushes it toward olive. Under 2700 K lighting the pair reads as two pale materials, which is what makes the room feel lighter than its floor area suggests.
Send the light temperature with the order and the swatch goes out matched to it.
