Armrests break a long run into seats
On an unbroken bench, guests leave a gap between parties and the run seats fewer people than the drawing says. One armrest every 1400 mm marks where a table ends and the next begins, and the gap stops being possible.
Every second seat rather than every seat, because a full set of armrests on a two-metre spacing closes the run into compartments and makes it harder to slide along.
The hoop is timber, not upholstered
Upholstered armrests collect hand grease and go shiny at the contact point within a season. Timber hoops take an oil and can be refreshed with a cloth.
The hoop returns from the back at 22 mm and lands on the seat frame, so it carries load rather than sitting as decoration. Guests use an armrest as a lever when they stand, and a decorative one breaks.
Pale green, in a room with a lot of timber
Green over timber needs the timber to be light and neutral. Warm orange-toned stains push the green toward olive, which is a different colour entirely.
This frame is stained to a pale grey-brown, and the vinyl is a cool green rather than a yellow-green. Together they read as two light materials rather than one muddy one.
