Denim blue holds its depth
Light blues go grey at the seat edge within a year, because the pigment breaks where the cover flexes. Navy and denim hold, and in a room lit at 2700 K they stay blue rather than sliding toward charcoal.
The cover is a pigment-finished vinyl at 1.1 mm. Thicker than that and the channels lose their edge when the foam behind them compresses.
40 mm of timber above the upholstery
The frame runs 40 mm above the top of the back and closes on itself at both ends. That band does two jobs: it stops the back from looking like a cushion balanced on a box, and it takes the hand of anybody who leans over the top of the booth.
Stained rather than painted, so a knock on the top rail can be sanded and re-oiled instead of needing a repaint that will not match.
Low rail under the seat
The base is a 120 mm timber rail rather than a full box, so the piece reads lighter than it is and the floor line stays visible. It also means a vacuum head gets under the front edge.
What it does not do is hide the floor. On a floor that is out of level or badly patched, a full box is the better choice, and we will say so before the drawing is issued.
