Modern Wood Luxury Retro Bar Booth Sofa In Orange Leather
Truly flat, a back is just a bench. The 40 mm of curve hidden behind this one is what turns it into a seat somebody can stay in for two hours.

Flat on the face, curved underneath
The face of this back is a plane. Behind it the foam is built over a panel that curves back 40 mm between the shoulder line and the base of the spine. From the front the run reads as a clean vertical; from a seated position there is something to lean into.
Take the curve out and the seat works for twenty minutes. Nobody says why they moved, they just move, and the booth gets a reputation it does not deserve.
Keeping pale timber pale
Ash yellows under UV. In a room with a wall of glazing that happens faster than the specification assumes, and a frame that matched the sample in month one reads amber by year two.
We seal with a UV-blocking clear coat rather than a straight nitrocellulose lacquer. It costs a little more per square metre and it keeps the frame within a shade of the sample for the life of the fit-out.
Fixed to the wall, scribed at both ends
The frame is fixed through concealed brackets inside the back, so nothing shows on the face. Each end carries 20 mm of scribe allowance that the fitter takes out against the actual wall.
Old plaster runs out of plumb over a two-metre drop. Assuming it does not is how a run ends up with a 12 mm gap behind a bead of sealant.
