Upholstery that stops short of the frame
Run vinyl all the way to the edge of a timber frame and the two materials fight. The vinyl curves over the corner, the timber stops, and the eye reads the join as a mistake. Stopping the upholstery 35 mm short leaves a bare timber line running up each end and along the top, and the frame becomes the outline of the piece.
That reveal also takes the wear. Shoulders land on the top rail, not on a stitched edge, and the vinyl is not being pushed against a hard corner every time somebody leans back.
Lift-out pads, because a booth outlives its covers
Seat pads are screwed down from below through a batten, not stapled to the frame. Removing four screws lifts a pad without touching the back or the frame, which turns a re-cover from a joinery job into a delivery.
Order spares with the run. Two pads per ten seats is the number that keeps a room in service while one is away being recovered.
Terracotta was chosen under the room's own light
Warm reds go brown under 2700 K. The same vinyl that reads clear and bright in a showroom with daylight tubes reads muddy once the pendants are the only light in the room.
