Velvet in a bar is a specification decision about pile, not about luxury: a short dense pile takes a spill and a long one holds it until the seat has to come out of the room.

Which velvet, not whether velvet
Velvet is specified for the way it holds colour under low light, and the argument against it is always the same spill. The two are both decided by pile: a short, dense contract pile resists liquid long enough to be blotted, and a long decorative pile holds it in the fibres until the cover has to come off.
Contract-grade velvet at a short pile is what this run is built in. It is not the fabric in the sample book that looks deepest at arm's length, and it is the one that survives a Friday night.
900 mm sections, because velvet has a direction
Velvet reads lighter or darker depending on which way the pile runs, so a run built as one panel with a change of direction halfway shows a visible band. Sections at 900 mm are cut and laid with the pile running the same way throughout, and the joints are set behind the back seam where the nap changes least visibly.
It also makes the run reconfigurable. Built to a plan, the sectional can be re-laid straight after a re-fit, or a section moved from a wall to a return, without re-cutting the upholstery.
Brass at the base, and what it costs
The frame shows below the upholstery as a brass line. It lifts a green seat in a room with dark walls, and it is the first thing to mark: brass-finish powder coat does not polish back the way solid brass does, so a hit from a chair leg stays visible.
Where the run sits on a route, the frame is specified in black. Against a wall, brass reads better and takes less traffic, which is why most of these go into wall runs rather than into the open.
