Orange is the one colour that stays legible in a room lit at 2700 K, which is why it turns up in bars that are dark everywhere except the seat backs.

Orange survives a warm room; most colours do not
Under 2700 K lamps a mid-brown seat pulls towards the wall it sits against and a grey one goes olive. Orange does not, because it already sits where the light source is: the saturated version reads as orange, the darker version reads as rust, and neither collapses into the background the way a neutral does.
That is the whole reason this colour appears in dark rooms. It is also why it looks loud in a bright one — if the room gets daylight, the same run reads at twice the intensity it does at night, and the sample has to be checked under both.
Pale timber under a saturated seat
Dark timber under this seat lets the colour float, which reads as a banquette that has been installed. Pale timber gives the run a base line, so the colour sits on something and the eye reads the whole piece as furniture.
Timber also takes a scuff and can be touched up. Painted plinths under a vivid seat show every mark, because the contrast at the bottom edge is the highest in the piece.
The channels are 75 mm for a reason
Sixty is too narrow on a 1000 mm back: the stitching starts to read as a pattern and the padding behind each channel is too thin to hold up where shoulders land. Ninety is too wide and the back loses the vertical rhythm that makes a long run look drawn rather than bought.
At 75 mm there are around fourteen channels across a two-metre run, which is enough to read as a repeated detail from across the room and few enough that each one still looks like a padded panel.
