Why white works in small rooms
Chairs occupy the middle of a room's visual field, and dark chairs at that height make a low ceiling feel lower. White chairs with pale legs let the eye pass over them to the wall, so the room reads bigger than it measures.
The trade is maintenance. White needs a sealed cover and a wipe at close, and it will still show wear at the seat front before any other colour does.
Solid legs, not a steel frame
White steel legs look clinical; solid timber legs keep the chair in the same family as the tables. On a Nordic profile the legs are the visible structure, so their material carries more of the look than the seat does.
Splayed rear legs widen the footprint at floor level without widening the chair, which is what stops a light chair from tipping when a guest leans back.
