Boucle mid-century stool
Boucle is a texture that absorbs light and sound at the same time, which is why it moved from lounge chairs to bar stools faster than any other cover in the last five years.

What boucle does to a room
The looped yarn scatters light rather than reflecting it, so a stool reads soft under a hard spotlight and does not glare. It also takes the edge off a hard room acoustically, which is why bar designers specify it in clusters rather than as single pieces.
What it does not do is clean easily. Spills sit in the loops, and a cover that cannot be removed is a cover that has to be lived with.
Timber frame, metal base
The frame gives the silhouette and the base gives the stability at bar height. Splitting them lets the timber stay slim where it is visible and the steel stay wide where it is kicked.
