Velvet stool, gold chrome base
Gold chrome on a base is the finish that dates fastest and photographs best, so it is worth knowing what it is before ordering forty of them into a room that will be photographed.

Chrome in two colours
Gold chrome is a tinted deposit over the same polished substrate as silver chrome. It wears the same way, which means it shows handling marks the same way, and it cannot be repaired locally: a scuff on a gold column is a re-plate, not a touch-up.
Where a base is going to be kicked, matte or brushed gold covers the same brief and hides the damage.
Velvet at 900 to 1100 mm
Over a 200 mm range the cover meets the guest at a different point on the back at each end. Velvet handles that better than a coated cover, because it has no coating to crack along the fold.
