Scandinavian timber stool, H1020 mm
Timber alone, no pad and no cover, is the version of a bar stool that a venue can actually maintain: there is nothing on it that has to be replaced.

Nothing to re-cover
Upholstery is the shortest-lived part of any stool and the only part that needs a workshop. Take it out of the specification and the stool moves from a five-year consumable to furniture: a sanding and an oiling at the table is the entire maintenance plan.
What it costs is comfort on a long sit. At a counter where guests stay for two hours, the seat needs a curve worked into the timber, not a flat board.
Black walnut against natural
The two finishes behave differently in a room. Black walnut absorbs light and makes a pale counter read brighter; natural timber warms a dark room and shows every mark. On a floor that gets kicked, the darker finish hides more and repairs less invisibly.
