Narrow solid wood stool, H1010 mm
400 mm wide and 370 mm deep is a stool that fits five to a two-metre counter where a standard one fits four, and on a bar with a fixed counter length that is the whole argument.

The arithmetic of a narrow seat
Counter seating is a division problem: counter length divided by seat pitch. 450 mm stools on a 570 mm pitch give four seats in two metres; 400 mm stools on a 500 mm pitch give four with more room, or five if the guests are slim and the counter allows it. The difference is one cover per two metres, all evening, every evening.
What narrow costs is the armless, backless comfort of a larger seat. 400 mm seats suit a guest who sits square; they do not suit one who turns sideways with a plate.
Light timber at 1010 mm
Light frames at this height are only honest if the legs are braced. The stretcher between the front legs is not a footrest on this stool — it is what stops a 1010 mm frame with slim legs from walking when a guest leans back. It sits high enough to be used as a footrest anyway, which is the compromise every bar stool at this height makes.
