Metal high-back stool, H870 mm
870 mm overall with a tall back is a counter stool for a guest who leans rather than perches, which is why the base is square and the legs splay further than the seat.

Backs that lean take the base with them
When a back is tall enough to lean into, the load arrives at the top of the frame and travels down the rear legs as a lever. That is why this frame carries a 470 mm square base on a stool whose seat is much smaller: the base is what stops the stool tipping when the guest pushes back.
The splay is doing the work, not the weight. Splayed leg frames resist a tipping load far better than straight ones of the same mass, which is why a light steel stool with the right splay feels more planted than a heavy one with vertical legs.
Colour on a steel frame
Warm colour on a steel stool is a commitment: it cannot be touched up invisibly, and the chip at the foot that every bar gets will show as a light speck against a dark floor. Where the frame is going to be kicked, a texture or a matte finish hides it better than gloss.
The alternative is to keep the frame black and put the colour in the seat, which is replaceable. On a bar that re-brands, that is the cheaper decision.
