Invisible joints, and why that matters
Solid surface is joined with a colour-matched adhesive and then sanded flush, so the joint disappears. On a curved bar that runs twenty metres, that is the difference between a counter and a series of panels: there is no line for the eye to catch and no shadow gap for dirt to collect in.
The same property means damage is repairable. Cigarette burns and deep scratches are sanded out and polished back, on site, without the counter being replaced. No other counter material allows that.
Thermoforming the curve
Solid surface softens under heat and can be bent to a radius, so a curved front is one piece rather than a faceted series of flats. The practical limit is around a 100 mm radius on a 12 mm sheet; tighter than that and the material thins visibly on the outside of the bend.
Lighting as part of the build
The LED reveal needs a 40 mm rebate behind the front panel, and that rebate has to be designed into the carcass rather than cut later. Wiring runs in the same void, with the driver accessible from behind the counter so a failure does not mean removing the front.
