Thirty-five millimetres and the look of weight
Industrial interiors are read through thickness. At 25 mm the top looks wrong on a 50 mm frame in a brick room, because the frame has more visual mass than the surface it carries. At 35 mm the two balance, and the table stops looking like an office desk with heavy legs.
The extra thickness also does structural work on a 1600 mm span: the top needs no centre support, so the floor under the table stays clear and a guest can put their feet anywhere.
Welded frames and knock-down tops
The leg frames arrive as welded rectangles and the top bolts on with four bolts per frame through slotted holes, so seasonal movement slides rather than splitting the board. That is the only part of the set that comes apart, which keeps the rigidity of a welded frame without the shipping volume of an assembled table.
Backless stools for a working floor
Backless stools are what let staff sweep under a table without moving it, and they take a third less floor perimeter per seat than a chair with a back. On a floor that turns three times a night, the difference in cleaning time is the difference between closing at one and closing at two.
