Rectangle plus tub chair is a specific club geometry
Tub chairs are wider than dining chairs at the shoulder, so two of them across a 750 mm table put the armrests almost touching. That is deliberate in a club: it makes a four-top feel enclosed, which is what a late room wants, and it also means the table cannot be squeezed into a five or six cover configuration later.
The 1500 mm length seats two a side with 750 mm of edge each, which is the minimum for a full dinner setting and generous for drinks. Going to 1800 mm adds a third seat per side but the table then needs a centre leg to stop the top bowing.
Dark timber under warm light
The 30 mm dark-stained top reflects very little, so under a 2700 K lamp the table reads as a dark plane and the leather reads warm against it. That contrast is the whole visual effect, and it fails if the top is finished in gloss: gloss picks up the lamp as a single hot spot and the surface turns into a mirror.
Matt lacquer over the stain keeps the reflection diffuse, which is why every club table in this range is specified matt rather than satin.
Why the frame is welded as a rectangle
Welding the leg frame as a closed rectangle rather than four separate legs gives the table its own racking resistance, so a guest leaning on a corner cannot push the table out of square. The trade-off is packing volume: a welded frame does not knock flat, so it ships as a rectangle with the top loose.
