Leather in a club gets a different life to leather in a bar
Nightclub seating is mostly used between eleven at night and three in the morning, in low light, by guests in dark clothing. Spills are sugary rather than beery, which is harder on stitching than on the hide, and the fix is a stitched seam that is set into a welt rather than a plain seam on the surface. Every seam here sits in a piped welt, so a spill runs off the seam instead of wicking into the thread.
Genuine leather develops a patina under this kind of use and looks better for it. Contract vinyl stays uniform, which reads as plastic under a warm light at close range but is far easier for a cleaning crew at four in the morning.
Low seat, deep shell, deliberate bulk
The seat is at 420 mm and the shell wraps to 740 mm at the back, which puts a seated guest below the standing sightline. That is the point in a club: seated guests stay in the room without blocking it, and the tables stay visible from the door.
Twelve millimetre plywood is the shell because it can be pressed into a compound curve without splitting. Solid timber cannot make that shape, and a moulded plastic shell would need a foam thickness that changes the silhouette.
Tables that survive being moved nightly
Club floors get rearranged for a private event and put back on Monday, so the tables knock down to a top, a column and a disc base. The top is compact laminate with a marble print rather than real stone, at a fifth of the weight and none of the chipping risk when a table is dragged rather than lifted.
