Why a catalysed sealer makes timber wipe-clean
Oil and wax finishes look the best on solid wood and are the wrong choice anywhere a cloth comes out every hour. Both are open to water and to alcohol, and a spilled spirit will lift an oil finish into a pale ring within a single shift. Catalysed lacquer cures to a closed film that resists both, so a cloth goes over the surface rather than into it.
The cost is repairability. The closed film can chip where oil can be re-blended locally. On a bar top that is more of a fair trade than it sounds, because the damage that matters in service is liquid rather than impact.
Stools sealed for the same reason
The seats are the same sealed timber as the top, so a wet glass left on a stool overnight does not leave a bloom. Round seats drain to the edge without a lip, which is why every stool in this range is crowned slightly rather than dished.
Where this differs from the plain-timber version
This is the same 1050 mm table and the same 40 mm top as the traditional American set, finished for a floor that gets wiped between services. The seat finish is the visible difference; the frame and the joinery are identical, so the two sets can be mixed in one room without it showing.
