Space saving is a geometry claim, not a slogan

One person needs roughly 600 mm of table edge to eat and drink comfortably. On a round table of 800 mm that edge is continuous, so four guests can sit at 90 degree spacing with nothing blocked. The same four guests at a 700 mm square table have corners they cannot use, and the footprint of the square table is larger to begin with. In a room 3 m wide, that difference is the difference between a fourth table fitting and not fitting.

The saving comes from a single pedestal rather than four legs. Four legs at the corners take the space where feet want to go, so guests sit further out and the practical footprint grows by 100 mm on each side.

The cast iron disc does the stability work

Pedestal tables tip when the load is on the edge, and the cure is mass low down. The base here is a 450 mm cast iron disc at around 12 kg, which keeps a full pint at the rim of an 800 mm top from lifting the far side. Steel plate of the same diameter weighs half as much and feels it.

Levelling is a screw foot under the disc, which matters on a timber floor that has had forty years of settlement.

Stools that go all the way under

The stools are backless and 320 mm across, so they slide fully beneath a 30 mm top and the table looks clear between services. That is what keeps a small floor from reading as cluttered, and it also lets staff sweep a whole bay in one pass.
