Low backs divide a room without closing it
Above roughly 850 mm a booth back becomes a wall. Two guests sit down on either side and neither can see the bar, the door, or whether a friend has arrived. At 800 mm the back still marks a boundary at table level and leaves the sightline open above it.
That height also changes how a floor feels at eight in the evening. Twenty high-backed booths in one room read as twenty closed doors. Twenty of these read as a full room with space in it.
Dark brown hides what pale leather shows
Dark brown pigment finish takes a scuff and keeps it invisible. On a cream hide the same scuff is a grey line that has to be blended by hand.
The trade is honest: dark leather also hides the grain, so the seat reads flatter in daylight. In a room this dim that is not the part guests notice.
Freestanding means the floor has to be flat
No wall fixing, so the unit carries its own stability. Each base has four adjustable feet and enough mass low down that a guest standing up on one end does not lift the other.
Check the floor. Over 3 mm out of level across the footprint, tell us before the drawing is issued and the feet are specified differently.
