Wabi-sabi timber stool with rope seat
Rope and unpolished timber is a finish that gets better as the room gets used, which is the one thing a lacquered stool can never do.

Wear as a feature, honestly
Untreated timber takes marks and darkens at the hand positions, and rope takes a slight set where it is sat on. On a polished frame both are damage; on this one they are the finish arriving.
What it does need is a decision about oiling: oiled timber survives a spill, raw timber stains. Most venues want the look of raw and the behaviour of oiled, which is one coat, not none.
Woven seat at bar height
At 1030 mm overall the seat carries a guest who is perched rather than settled, so the rope does not take the same continuous load as on a low stool. That is why a woven seat holds up better on a bar stool than on a dining chair.
