Furniture that moves in one hand
The cue needs about 1800 mm of clear space behind the ball, so chairs get moved several times an evening. Anything with a heavy base, a fixed bench or a linked row is a problem in that room. Loose chairs at 4 to 6 kg and tables on four legs that can be dragged by one person are the correct specification.
The high stools stay at the bar edge where they are out of the playing area, which is why the set mixes 750 mm stools with 460 mm chairs rather than standardising on one height.
Orange leather as a club colour
Orange reads as warm and energetic under low light, and it holds its saturation where a red turns brown and a yellow washes out. Against a black iron frame it is the only colour in the room, which keeps a large games floor from looking busy.
Mesh backs and a long evening
Mesh backs ventilate, which matters in a room with a low ceiling and no air movement, and they weigh less than an upholstered back so it can be moved with one hand. The trade-off is that mesh looks technical rather than traditional, so it is specified for the playing side and leather for the bar side.
