Fixed and loose in one order

Booths are fixed because a fixed bench holds its line and takes the abuse a loose bench cannot: it does not walk, it does not tip, and the back can be anchored to the wall. Tables and chairs stay loose because the floor has to change for a bigger act. One order covering both means the upholstery, the timber tone and the metal finish are the same across the room, which is the part that cannot be fixed later.

The cost of fixing a booth is that the room cannot be re-planned without a fitter. On a live floor that is normally the right trade, because the booth zone is the zone that never moves.

Colour as zoning

Red for the standing side and green or black for the booth side does two things at once: it tells a guest where the loud end is, and it lets a room keep one furniture language while reading as two spaces. The upholstery is the same contract vinyl throughout, so a bay can be re-covered later in a different colour without changing the frame.

Buttoned booth backs and cleaning

Buttoned backs collect dust in the dimples and are slower to clean than a plain back. In a live venue that closes at three in the morning, a plain channel back gets wiped in a fraction of the time. Buttoning is available and looks better in the photographs; specify it only for a room with a proper cleaning routine.
